A Trip To Remember

Two years back, I went on a school trip to Nepal. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Travelling through the mountains, rivers flowing cool air, mesmerizing scenery! I can still feel that cold breeze touching my skin, earphones in my ears, sitting on the window seat. At that very moment, I felt beyond the world as if I was in a totally different place. At times while we stopped at certain places while travelling early in the morning, we used to get down the bus, shivering because of the intense cold weather, and just a cup of tea would taste so much better than any other day. The most beautiful place which we visited was Pokhra; it’s a wonderful city, beautiful, safe, and filled with foreign tourists. We explored the city and even made new friends! That trip was like a necklace with all these beautiful memories serving as its pearls!

But this is not what I want to talk about. On the sixth day of our wondrous tour, our teachers asked all the students from class 9 to 12 to report immediately at the hotel we were staying, we all reached their having the same question in our minds, that why only these classes? Had we done something wrong? We all took our seats and our sports teacher addressed us, he first Talked about our question about why only we were called, why not junior classes?

He said: “I know all of you are thinking why only you children are here, but I don’t want to tell you that directly, I want to ask you that what do you think, what is the matter”. He asked any ten of us to speak about what we thought. Everyone started speaking about what they felt, that we were teenagers, we are in stage of life when we start to have all these new feelings, we start to discover stuff, some which may even be injurious to us, that how we try to pretend to be someone which we are not but do so to fit in, that how we at times turn towards friends for advice on very delicate matters and they being our own age give us wrong advice, that how we start to build this ego which gets hurt so easily.

I heard everyone and even spoke as the last speaker, I concluded that teenage isn’t a easy time for anyone neither for us and neither for the elders who influence us directly, that we should develop a healthy relationship with our parents, our teachers so that when we get stuck in life we can turn towards them for advice, as they have faced the same things in their life rather than asking advice from our friends who are going through the same things and have absolutely no experience about these matters.

Our teachers were quite happy by all of our responses, our sports teacher told us the same, he told us that this age we are going through may feel messed up and at times we may need help, and that we could always trust our teachers for advice. It may look a very small incident, but it taught us all many things, it made us feel that there are people who care about us, like we know they all do care but the reassurance feels kind of good. Later on I found out that there were problems going on between some senior students, and that’s why the whole meeting was done.

  1. Yeah! For all of us F.R.I.E.N.D.S are that matter, but lately I have been understanding that they may be or may not be always there for us! Our parents are the only ones who will support us and care about us forever!
