Are online classes the true alternative?

In this world of online classes, the situation has become ironical, our parents who earlier found electronic gadgets harmful for our eyes, are now forcing us to take online classes on those gadgets! So this means that your eyes are only harmed when you watch a movie or play a game, but while studying on it there is no effect on your eyes whatsoever! Education is supposed to be something fun, something you enjoy, but now it seems as if it is a glorified enforcement of factual knowledge!.

Schools are practically being hilarious taking online classes for toddlers as well. It seems as if it’s a race, and schools don’t want to be left behind. Even if the world is facing one of the greatest threats to life in the whole human history, the biggest worry in my mind is still trigonometry!

Personally speaking, online classes are an act, so many people talking together; you understand something and miss out the most! In the end all you are left is with a little knowledge, a lot of homework and most importantly no mobile data! There are people dying, families finishing in an instant, but still our major focus is of course education. In a country where illiteracy persists in our very roots, where people don’t understand that they are quarantined for their own sake, it’s quite funny that we give so much importance to school education. There are many children who do not have mobile phones or internet, what about them? Again even the right to education will get segregated on the basis of your financial status!

There are countries like USA, who have closed there schools and colleges for the upcoming year. In India if something like this happened, parents would be like how can you waste our child’s year? The world my friends is facing a global crisis, in India we are getting hundreds of patients everyday! Online classes will not help us, children are unable to even get books and notebooks because of the lockdown, they are told everyday to complete there copies, but they don’t have any as all the market is closed down. The educational authorities should be more sensitive towards students, as I can surely say that online classes aren’t the true alternative we require today, all we need is time, because time can heal a lot of things which are out of our control! If schools are shut down this year, I don’t think it will be a waste of time, we wouldn’t be wasting a year, we will have a year to explore, to find ourselves, to find our passions!

  1. I don't completely agree. The importance of online classes will increase in the coming years, because who wants to step out and risk getting infected?

And education is important. It's well-known that schools teach for test scores, not for actually learning, so it seems like your ire is meant for the education system itself, not for online classes. It's justified, but you're choosing the wrong target.

A year is important. People who are the cusp of joining the workforce will end up working in a staggered economy. People looking to get into colleges will be affected. Don't undermine the importance of knowing things. We don't want this pandemic to set us back so much that by the time we recover from it, we find ourselves in a sea of people who can't see the way forward because they didn't want to learn.

Encouraging introspection is a different matter entirely; people can and should be encouraged to do it no matter what. Self-awareness should not come at the cost of personal health; at the same time, it is an important need.

    1. Just two questions, you said education is necessary at this time, I do not feel that way, I feel that quality education is required today and if we can provide our students quality education through online classes, then who am i to say that they are not the alternative. But what i have observed is that the quality of education is being compromised, I understand the importance of learning, but not the importance of learning just for the sake of it.
Also will the children from the lower strata of our society be able to attend these online classes? What about those people who are hardly able to afford going to schools, how will they get smartphones or laptops to attend these online classes. SO now what will happen is that education will be divided on the basis of financial status, which clearly violates the right to education.
I am not against online classes, I’m against the implementation of the technology. I would wait a year rather than studying a year which gives me a very less outcomes and knowledge.
