On one hand, we are part of a world which presents us with millions of opportunities, which other generations before us never got. On the other hand, we are part of a world, which asks us to run behind these opportunities! We live in a world where you really can’t stop running, because there are thousands of people like you, waiting just behind, waiting for an opportunity to overtake you! We are a part of a world that mostly accepts only a hundred percent success rate! Yes my friends we all are living in a competitive world.

To be true, the planet earth has never been an easy place to live in, it has always been competitive, just the modes, and the rate has changed. The world was competitive when the evolution started as there was a competition for survival, we were competitive when monarchy existed in the country as there was competition for territory, we are still competitive when we are a democratic nation, as we still have elections and there is competition for power, every part of human history indicates towards the competitive behavior of human beings. This means we are not the only generation who has faced competition, right? This statement is only partially true, competition has always existed, but what we have today can only be termed as “ill and excessive competition”. Children had a childhood, but nowadays they don’t, I was so surprised to see that such small children, who are studying in class one or two are being sent to tuitions! I have seen very young children being scolded only because they are unable to give the outputs what their parents expect from them. Education isn’t a mode of learning nowadays, learning with fun has become a dead philosophy. Knowledge is not we all pursue; we all seek marks and good grades because clearly according to everyone that’s what matters in the end.

We are a very humorous generation, I have seen people preparing for entrance exams for engineering colleges, like literally studying for hours, and when I ask them what is it that makes them so passionate about their goal, like what is there that you find so fascinating about the subject. They tell me that all they want is to go to a college, get a degree, and then get an impressive paid job, and they are just trying to be engineers, as the field has a lot of ‘scope’! We are a generation that doesn’t decide their dreams based on our interests but we do so based on the scope and the money that field gives you!

We as teenagers, as the future of the country’s workforce, need to understand that dreams and goals should be made based on our interests and believe me then this competition wouldn’t be a problem, when we will do something we want to, we will do it the best. We may get a great job, in a field that we aren’t interested in, we may become wealthy but will we be happy? I know this all sounds cliché, this idea of happiness and following our dreams, but it’s the necessity of today. We have closed our eyes towards what we want and like because we want to take the road more traveled by, the road which seems easy, but try to take the road less traveled by, just like Robert Frost did.

The competition has become ugly today because we are thrown into it at times against our will, and at times we are just blind and take the route which makes more noise! I believe healthy competition is the reason why we all try to do better, which is good, but this world is filled with dirty competition! In this competitive world, be who you want to be, do what you want to do! If you have a motive, a purpose then please do run behind it, do your best, do what you want and this competitive world wouldn’t look the same as you would be enjoying that sprinting, it will give you contempt. Follow your natural dreams; take the road less traveled by!

Do Subscribe the Blog!
