Nelson Mandela: “Closest Proof of God”

Nelson Mandela International Day (or Mandela Day) is an annual international day in honor of Nelson Mandela, celebrated each year on 18 July, Mandela’s birthday. The United Nations officially declared the day in November 2009, with the first UN Mandela Day held on 18 July 2010. This year is his hundredth Birthday. We celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day by making a difference in our communities. Everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better! Mandela Day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change.

“President Mandela’s life is the closest thing we have to proof of God.”
 Arnold Schwarzenegger

Nelson Mandela is an example for all of us. It’s not just his revolutionary ideology that we should inherit, but also his mentality. Most of the people give up and don’t even try for what they believe in, but Mandela did. He showed people that it needs the courage to bring a change, many people want to change the world, but only wanting won’t do. The next time when you feel that what can you do to bring a change in the society you live in, remember how Nelson Mandela, a young leader with few resources, changed his whole country, remember that there was a man who sacrificed his entire life for his nation, remember that if he could do that, you can too!

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
— Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela also taught us the true belief of nationalism, which isn’t to support those in power but to support what is right for the people of that nation. He taught us that a true nationalist fights for his country and its people, and this fight should be one influenced by the idea of non- violence, he taught us that words have more power than what we give them credit for! He didn’t just become the change he wanted to see in the society, he brought it!

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
— Nelson Mandela

On this auspicious day, we are happy to announce our very new series, “Only wanting won’t do: People who made their dreams come true”. In this series, we will talk to people who gave their very best in the fields they loved, people who did not use excuses for not achieving success, people who made their dreams come true! Because dreaming is the first step towards success, but we forget about the next step that is taking action to achieve our goals.

“Everyone wants to change the world, but only wanting won’t do!”

  1. He was and will remain a symbol of tuff defiance and resistance. 27 years in jail is quite a time, but he took it as an opportunity to change the face of future.
    Nice piece Amogh!✨
